Sweet Caroline Rules

U18 BC3 Tournament Rules

All games are based on Hockey Calgary rules and guidelines.

 

All teams will play four (4) games; three (3) round robin games an one playoff game (either an A or B final game). Teams will receive the following points during the round robin games: 

Win – 2 points

Tie – 1 point

Loss – 0 points

 

All games will be 75 minutes in length and consist of a 3-minute warm-up and 15, 15, 15-minute stop time periods. At the first stoppage of play after time reaches 5 minutes left on the permit, the clock will be reset to 2 minutes, and the remainder of the game will be completed with stop time.

 

All games can end in a tie except for the A/B final games. If two teams are tied in the standings after the round robin, the winner will be determined as follows:

  1. the record in the head-to-head game

  2. the team with the most goals for less goals against in the round robin

  3. the team with the most goals in the round robin

  4. the team with the least penalty minutes in the round robin

  5. coin flip

 

If three teams are tied in standings after the round robin, the placement of the teams will be determined as stated from b. thru e. above

 

In the event of a tie in the B or A final, there will be a 3-player overtime shootout:

  • The goalie that ends the game will be the goalie for the shootout

  • Each team will provide 3 players. If still tied then sudden death, no repeat shooters until the entire line up (excluding goalies) has been exhausted.

 

After each game, each team’s coach will select one player for the Heart & Hustle Award and one for the Player of the Game Award. Players may receive only one award during the tournament. Awards will be presented on the ice if there is time. 

 

Skills competition results will be posted at the rink and sent to head coaches on Monday.

 

Teams must supply two volunteers per game for time/scorekeeping and penalty box. Home team supplies timekeeper and home penalty box volunteer. Visiting teams supplies scorekeeper and visiting penalty box volunteer.

 

Silent Auction, Raffle and 50/50 winners will be announced on Monday.

 

Skills Competition:

 

The Skills Competition is for all teams. The Skills Competition will consist of the following 4 events:

 

- Agility and stickhandling - race from goal line to far ringette line by skating with puck through pylons (2 heats)

- Rapid shot - 30 seconds to score on 15 shots from 3 piles of 5 pucks each

- Fastest skater - lap around the ice with nets moved in a bit from the crease (2 heats)

- Shootout - each player gets 3 penalty shots against random goalies

 

There will also be an all-around top goalie award based on results from the shootout and rapid shot.

 

The guidelines are as follows:

- Coaches to provide a list of which events their players will be participating in by Monday February 9h at 8 pm

- Non-goalies can compete in only one event

- Each team must assign between 3-5 players per event

- All players must be dressed in home uniforms (dark colour)

- All players must be dressed and on the ice for the scheduled start time. They can leave the ice when their event is done or stay on the bench to cheer on the others

 

The winner of each event and the top goalie will receive a small prize and bragging rights.

U18 GHC Tournament Rules
